Arizona Historical Society

The society holds a fine collection of 60,000 books and pamphlets, letters, diaries, maps, and newspapers on microfilm. The holdings date from the earliest Spanish colonial period to the present. Their photographic department boasts 250,000 separate items. Each item is cross-referenced in the card catalog.

The Arizona State Genealogical Society website offers an Arizona Research Sources page indicating where records are located statewide. The Special Libraries Association'Arizona Chapter website has links to library associations statewide.

The Arizona State Genealogy Society closed it's doors in 2011. Southern Arizona has a new genealogy society named Pima County Genealogy Society. The email for the society is [email protected]. The society has a blog located at http://pimacountygenealogysociety.blogspot.com. The blog offers a Toolbox area with Arizona Research Sources and general genealogy resources on the web. The society also maintains a page on Facebook.

Mesa Family History Center

For researching while in the state, this is a noteworthy repository owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of the largest family history centers in the country, it is housed in its own building. Collections include material not found at the FHL.
