Allegany is a county in Maryland. It was formed in 1789 from Washington county. The first land deed in Allegany was recorded in 1791. Orphan Court records begin in 1790. For more information, contact the circuit county clerk at 30 Washington St., Cumberland 21502. On the attached map, Allegany is located at B2. A courthouse fire in 1893 destroyed marriage records for 1791'1847 and naturalizations for 1892'1893.
